The Review - The Concert

So a few weeks ago now (read a couple of months), my sister-in-law Bex came over and we watched The Concert. And I enjoyed it so much I just had to share it with you.

The story is about an ex-conductor called Andrei Simoniovich Filipov. Thirty years ago he was the renowned conductor of the Bolshoi orchestra, but was fired because he hired Jewish musicians.  As fate would have it, he is now a mere cleaning man at the Bolshoi and by chance he learns that the Châtelet Theater in Paris wants the Bolshoi orchestra to play there.

This inspires Andrei with a crazy plan to gather together his former musicians and to perform in Paris in the place of the current Bolshoi orchestra. He wants Anne-Marie Jacquet, a young virtuoso, to be a solo violinist to accompany his old Jewish or Gypsy musicians. What ensues is a movie of beautiful scripted story, full of heart, laughter and tears. Definitely a must see.

Here is the trailer for your viewing pleasure:

Until next time :)
